What is a panic attack


A  panic attack, also called an anxiety attack, is an intense rush of fear.

A panic attack must include a minimum of 4 of the following symptoms to be called a
genuine panic attack

1 racing or pounding heart

2 Sweating

3 Trembling or Shaking

4 Shortness of breath

5 Feeling of choking

6 Chest pain or discomfort

7 Nausea or abdominal distress

8 Feeling dizzy or faint

9 Feeling unreal or detatched

10 Numbness or tingling sensations

11 Chills or hot flushes

12 Fear of Dying

13 Fear of going crazy

The intensity of panic attacks tend to increase very quickly, and can reach their peak in seconds.

The duration of panic attacks can be anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour.

It's also possible to experience
multiple panic attacks spread over hours or days.

The first time you experience a panic attack you may go to your doctor
only to be told  not to worry and that there is nothing physically wrong with you.

Unfortunatly this
dosen't help the panic attack sufferer as panic attacks are not a physical condition but rather a mental one.

And when you experience a panic attack
once there's an underlying fear that you'll experience another one.
